THE PRELIMINARY TASK
This is our Preliminary Task page, where we tested out the 180 degree angle in a conversation. We filmed a good and bad version of this rule. Whilst we were filming this, we also had to make sure we prevented breaking the continuity rule by making sure nothing was changed during the different scenes.

Here is a diagram of the 180 degree rule. It explains how to film a conversation without making it look like the actors have swapped seats or changed location in the room. When filming a conversation and you're filming over one of the actors shoulder you are showing the other actor speaking to them. To make sure it doesn't look like the actors had moved around, when filming the other actors response you need to keep within the 180 degree line, filming over the opposite shoulder of the first speaker. If you fail to do this you will break the 180 degree rule, causing you to create a continuity error.

Here we have filmed our correct version of our Preliminary Task. This is were we filmed our conversation without breaking the 180 degree angle or failing to keep up continuity. We have filmed it so that nothing changed throughout filming to prevent continuity errors happening. We also filmed the conversation within 180 degrees so that the audience didn't believe that the two girls had swapped seats. This is how a conversation should look when a conversation is being filmed,

Here we filmed our bad preliminary task. This is were we purposely filmed our conversation to make sure we broke the 180 degree angle and made continuity errors to experiment what would happen if these rules were to be broken. Here we made it so that as Leila walked towards the door, she was wearing a bag but as she stepped into the room she didn't have a bag on. This is making a continuity error because something is being changed without it being shown to change. Also, as the camera is over Leila's shoulder she is wearing a bag, but when the camera is facing Leila, she isn't wearing a bag, also breaking the continuity rule. We also broke the 180 degree rule because we filmed the different conversation shots over 180 degrees, causing the audience to believe Leila and Georgina have swapped seats, which in fact they haven't. Therefore, if we were to shoot a conversation in our Opening Title Sequence, we need to stick to the 180 degree rule to make it professional and we need to prevent continuity errors from happening.
