We covered a lot of editing techniques in todays lesson.
Firstly, we learnt the two types of editing. Continuity editing and Non-Continuity editing. We were taught the definitions of these and when they can be used. We then learnt a bit about transitions. We learnt the three main transition types, what they do and why transitions are used. Thirdly, I wrote down notes on order of shots. This was the reasons we order our shots and what effects it leaves on the audience. Lastly, we learnt about flashbacks. We learnt when was best to use a flashback, how to edit a flashback and what a flashback was. Quite a bit of blooper footage was filmed today whilst filming the interviews. Me, Tash and Bailee left Tahreem to do some catching up on our website, whilst we went and interviewed Bailee, me, Jack Woodard, Soloman Harrison, Will Austin and Connor Dokic to go on our audience research page. I interviewed everyone, acceot myself (of course) and there was where Bailee stepped in.
Using all the lessons this week to go back and finish all our unfinished work on weebly: adding and analysing our youtube videos, finishing pages, filming interviews, editing filmed footage and just getting up to date with our work.
WE'VE FINALLY GOT A FINISHED IDEA FOR OUR HORROR OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE! During todays lesson, we sat together and filled out a sheet that brainstormed our ideas together, to then finalise our final idea. We then sat and listened to all the other groups OTS ideas, giving them ideas to make theirs better.
In todays lesson we went through some of the theory behind horror. For example, we went through the idea how the killer normally has had issues at childhood, houses, schools and hospitals make horror films scarier because they are associated with being safe, no guns should be used in horror, victims are better being pretty women and the final girl is normally the intelligent one. We also searched for more of our own to put on our theory page.
So in todays lesson we started looking at how to edit shot after shot. We learnt the names of different types you can sequnce your shots, a description of that and examples of when they could be used.
